Entry Period. The photo contest will be open Nov. 13–14, 2014. Photos must be summited by midnight on Nov. 14 to be eligible for a prize.
Eligibility. Contest is open to UC San Diego students, staff, faculty, alumni and campus friends. Participants must be 18 years of age or older. By participating in the contest, entrants agree to comply with these official rules, the sponsor’s interpretation of them and the decisions made by the sponsor in matters relating to the contest. By participating in the contest, entrants release and hold harmless the sponsor against any and all claims, injury or damage arising out of or relating to participation in this contest and/or use or misuse or redemption of a prize.
To Enter. Take a photo of your friends and yourself at the Founders Celebration events (Founders Symposium on Nov. 13, Founders Day on Nov. 14 or Hullabaloo on Nov. 14). Tag the photo with #ucsdfounders and share it on Instagram or Twitter to be entered in the contest. (Note: You will need to create a Twitter or Instagram account if you don’t already have one. Membership on both services is free; register at http://twitter.com or http://instagram.com). By sharing a photo with the contest hashtag (#ucsdfounders), you agree to these official rules. All entries become property of the sponsor. All entries must comply with the Twitter and Instagram Terms of Service. Creating multiple Instagram or Twitter accounts in order to increase contest entries may result in disqualification of all entries from such accounts.
NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT IS NECESSARY IN ORDER TO ENTER.
Prize Winners Selection/Notification. All valid entries will be entered into a random drawing. Winners will be selected the week of Nov. 17. Depending on how the potential winner submitted the photo (Instagram or Twitter) the individual will be contacted one of two ways. For Instagram, a representative of UC San Diego will post a comment on the winning photo asking the individual to email email@example.com with their name, email and phone number to be added to the list of contest winners. For Twitter, the potential winner will receive a message from the @UCSanDiego Twitter account with instructions to email firstname.lastname@example.org with their name, email and phone number to be added to the list of contest winners. Assuming that there are more than seven entries, seven winners will be selected. If the potential winner does not respond within 24 hours of being notified, the potential winner may be disqualified, in the University’s sole discretion, and an alternate winner may be selected.
Prizes. The winners will each receive one $75 gift card to Zanzibar in The Loft or the UC San Diego Bookstore. Winners must pick up their prize at the Chancellor’s Office on the UC San Diego campus. Prizes will not be mailed or otherwise distributed. The odds of winning a prize depend upon the total number of participants.
General Terms. Contest is void where prohibited by law. Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the contest. Entrants agree to indemnify and hold harmless the sponsor from any and all liability resulting or arising from the contest, to release all rights to bring any claim, action or proceeding against the sponsor, and hereby acknowledge that the sponsor has neither made nor is in any manner responsible or liable for any warranty, representation or guarantee, express or implied, in fact or in law, relative to the prize. Twitter and Instagram are not sponsors of the contest, and are in no way responsible for the administration of the contest.
Sponsor. Contest is sponsored by the University of California, San Diego as part of the campus’s 2014 Founders Celebration.
Disputes. The exclusive jurisdiction and venue for any disputes arising from this contest will be the courts located in San Diego County, California. In all cases, sponsor’s liability shall be limited to the value of one prize (i.e., a $75 gift card).
